ingredients:
2 cups elbow pasta - cooked and drained
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons butter + 2 tablespoons melted butter
2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 cups ham - cubed
1 3/4 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon grated onion
2 tablespoons bread crumbs
steps:
1. preheat oven to 375 degrees. melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a pan, add flour and stir until mixture foams. add milk, stir until thickens. add salt and cayenne pepper and simmer over low heat - 2 minutes.
2. pour the sauce into a large mixing bowl. add pasta, ham, 1 1/2 cup cheese and onion. mix.
3. grease a casserole dish and spoon the ham mixture in. mix bread crumbs, remaining cheese and 2 remaining melted butter. spread over the top of the ham mixture. bake 35 - 40 minutes until browned.
