heath bar blondies

cook time:  30 minutes
servings:  16 bars

1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup brown sugar
1 stick butter - melted
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup coarsely chopped heath bars

1.  preheat oven to 350 degrees.  grease a 9 x 9-inch backing pan.  in a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt, set aside.

2.  in a large bowl, beat together brown sugar and butter.  add egg and vanilla.  stir flour mixture into the butter mixture along with the heath bars.  mix until combine.  pour batter into pan.

3.  bake for 20 - 30 minutes.  check after 20 and if edges are cooking faster than middle, cover edges with tin foil and continue to bake.  allow to cool completely.  cut into squares.
